Cowboy Bebop holds up so well, it's kind of hard to believe how old it is now. Somehow I even remember it as widescreen, even though it's only 4:3.

Creating live-action remakes of anime seems to have become the latest fad in the entertainment industry, so I'm not terribly surprised. It also happened with Ghost in the Shell, and that was an anime that actually lent itself decently to being live-adapted, unlike Cowboy Bebop - half of its charm is in the fact that it's an animation.

Seriously, how are they going to re-create Ed with a real actor?

They could just let a little girl play Ed?

If this finally leads to a continuation of the original series, that'd be fine too. (Spike faked his death before and the ending was ambiguous in that regard.)

I'm thinking anything new will just dilute the original experience. this may be one of those rare cases where just leaving the ip alone might be the best course of action.

basically, if it's impossible to do it well (and it is), then it's better off not being done at all.

That's true, but I have the feeling that reproducing Ed's facial expressions, gestures and other movements would be hard for a real actor. Animation is way more effective at that.

It may even turn out to be a decent show, but nothing will change the fact that it was primarily intended to be a cash cow. Some series are better left alone, and besides, it's been two decades since the series was first released. If Watanabe ever wanted to create a sequel, he would have probably already done it.

yeah.

also, animation would be the way to go for the proper third Hellboy movie that will never happen as live-action. just grab Ron Perlman, a decent animation studio, and wrap the trilogy up.

I agreed with that opinion back when I had first watched it on MTV. It had come to a great conclusion (Faye shooting the ceiling in desperation when Spike wants to leave) and it seemed perfect as it was. But I had a lot of time to revel in the meaningfulness the show's discontinuation gave it. 20 years later my wish to see these guys again outweighs it.

I just played Ionosphere's test level once more after these many years and just wanted to say it is WORTHY.  It really ought to have replaced the standard earth level a long time ago.  One day I will learn enough ShockEd to make my dream come true

I particularly like how silent it is, yet there are still signs of recent activity.  I'd just love to go into the Triop building or the World of Desks or the self-adoption agency but alas, all the doors are locked.

I'm not sure. Either I have a thousand questions or this thing just has to be experienced, without a clear indication of what is what and who is who, in order to get the best out of it.
It does look hugely ambitious and like it cost a lot of money. Usually trailers try to simplify in such cases to pull in as many people as possible. But this trailer was as messy as it was showy. Maybe the artist had full control? Or maybe they are trying deliberately to make it look deep? I have no idea.
All this talk about bringing America back together seems extraordinarily contemporary for a video game. This is probably the weirdest part. That it apparently wants to deal with a real world problem that video games generally are poorly equipped to do. Can't bring America back together by shooting people, you know?

You can overcome divides with exctractable ladders though.

the use of computerized real life actors is strangely off-putting as far as I'm concerned. uncanny valley of some sort?

@icemann It's neither electronic nor SS2 related though? Is there another that I forgot?

Reminds me of Edward's computer in a tomato box.
