Interesting issue:

The game was working fine for the last week..

Today i closed it, ate dinner, came back and was getting the HD space error. So before i bothered looking online i just uninstalled, reinstalled, rpatched and recracked. Now when i load it up the screen goes black as if it's loading, and then just goes back to my desktop with a 'send error' box that pops up. Any ideas?

I've tried a fresh install with Kolya's tool as well...same issue

Check the file cam.cfg, it should contain the line "safe_texture_manager".

Also be aware that some of the fixes are mutually exclusive, which is a shortcoming of this tool. When you run the HD space fix a new exe gets copied and patched. The hyper threading fixed exe gets overwritten that way. If you have a hyperthreading or dualcore system, try running the hyper threading fix only again.

The problem is it was doing this before with my regular crack job...so i thought your tool might help...and all i select off yours is the bugs and patching.

Like i said, it WAS working...now suddenly it wont...

The bug fixes of this tool copy a new executable to your game folder (as does the patch), so your "regular crackjob" was overwritten most likely. Read the descriptions of the fixes in the first post. I think I made it quite clear to only use this tool on virgin installations and what it does there.

yes...and i've tried a fresh install and the tool (patch and bugs only) and it still won't run...that's what i meant

It might quite well be the problem with video playback. I've written somewhere how to test it and see for sure. But I can't seem to find the post now. Thought it was somewhere in the thread where my explanation of the whole SS2 file structure was (which I can't seem to find now as well). Bad luck.

the thread where my explanation of the whole SS2 file structure was (which I can't seem to find now as well). Bad luck.
I made that a separate thread: SS2 Modding mechanics & compatibilities. It couldn't be discussed where it was (in the Mod User FAQ) because another discussion had also spawned there, which had nothing to do with your explanation.
I generally try to cut off the offspawns of the guides at some point. But I certainly should link your post from it.

That's fine. But the test for video playback is not there either. :D
I've searched for various keywords like skip_intro or test or ffdshow and didn't find any.

Thanks. Well somethings funny with search engine by me.
Anyway I'd better point to this post, it's the one explaining how to test it.

ok i havent had time to PLAY since i made my last post, when i try to load my old games it "loads" but the screen stays black and i can hear music...no input will work either, when i ctrl+alt+del it says not responding

if i try to start a new game i choose a difficulty then click start it just fatal errors and goes to the desktop

Fresh install, The only fixes are:
NO CD
No HD space
skip_intro
Cutscenes fix(still cant watch em)

Rename LGVID.AX and add the texture memory fix. Tell me how it works out.

Doing that stops the error on creation of a new game, but after the load screen it hangs (except for sound) just like the loads do

EDIT: Apparently I had it set under properties for Compatibility in win 95 i removed that and la-dee-da it works fine now...Ima go shoot myself...

Sad part is I had a fresh install, changes like that must be held in the registry and kept after uninstalls...all well
