Just downloaded the laser pistol. Is actually pretty cool, getting your favorite weapon revamped. The pictures look nice, and I hope the mod works on my next SS2 startup

Whoa. You sure work fast don't ya?

I love your Hi-res weapon models. They really are a sight to behold!

Owns pretty hardcore, I especially like that you made it a bit bigger than the Wrench Mini that Goggles used to wield.
Here's hoping this streak doesn't end too soon.

Amazing how fast you come up with this. Again, looks simply great, if I may say, this is the 1st wrench that I unquestionably hold more suitable then the original one (not that the others were bad, they just didn't fit in for me, something like hybrids from Arcaniac and Rebirth compared to the original models, the feel wasn't caught).

This wrench looks pretty nice, but I think it's a little too much like the first one. If that was what you were trying to do, simply giving 'em better looks and such, I'm sorry to complain. I still like Arcaniac's wrench more. Good job though and indeed in a short amount of time.

Arcaniac's wrench was a pipe wrench, you heretic!

Great work Mercruius!
The level still looks a little strange.  Maybe if you desaturated it a little?

Have you considered making objicons to match your new weapons?

I knew it all those wrench babbles last few days were not plain. ))
Finally a decent tool.

Excuse me. About the pistol replacement, aren't you gonna do one thats compatible with
ADoaB V.029?

The version which exists is compatible with v0.2.9 and higher.

@Rainalkar
Thank you, my aim is to be largely faithful to the original weapons so I'm glad to hear that

@Doooom

I have attempted to stay true to the original designs of the weapons that are being replaced.

 :sweat:

@NV
But I like the glowy-level :(
Though I guess the texture could use some work, it's quite a bit half-assed atm...

Also regarding objcons, I didn't think that these weapons were different enough from the originals to really require them but I could give it a shot.

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone, Assault Rifle is next

Holy cow.  Merc you're amazing.  I love this site.  I love this game.  I love these mods.

Sweet, assault rifle! I know you're staying true to the originals, but is there any way perhaps to beef up the rifle with something simple... like maybe a cheek pad on the rear stock? Just something, anything, to give it just a hint more volume yet stay close to the original.

And what about a reflex sight? It is set in the distant future after all.

Yes, it's the DISTANT FUTURE. Reflex sights exist NOW. By the time of SS2, they're obsolete. Do try to keep up, would you?

Merc just stick with the plan and everyone will be happy.

"Stupid noobs making requests" I can practically hear it.

For the record, it looks good as is and I'd enjoy it as well as anyone else, I always just found the original model lacking. In reality, any serious shooter is going to laugh at a stock like that. I know, it's a game - it's not supposed to be real - but even as a sci-fi fantasy game, it still looks goofy. Anyone who's even held a rifle with a stock like that knows that thing would be crap to aim with.

Oh well, I'll probably be adding it in a program myself.

Also, considering the significant changes in the laser pistol, I'd say a mere cheek rest to solve that issue is HARDLY drifting from "the plan".

The pic included is just the base mesh, minor changes will be made to reflect the larger polycount and lack of repeated textures.

I'm sorry you think it sounds that way but the fact is, sticking with the original design is the easiest and safest way to please the most people.  It's absolutely fine to take liberties with the weapons but with that you have to accept that only certain people will find it to their liking.  I believe Merc's philosophy is to stay with the original designs for his mod pack....there's evidence of that in this thread and I've had my own correspondence with him as well.

Re: Tacticool Weapon Replacements

Exactly. When he deviates too much from the original designs, we end up with, for example, a laser gun that looks like a water pistol.

How do I fill up that tank??

Clearly he must have thought the same thing I did when he looked at the laser pistol, which would be "How the hell can someone hang on to that thing?" I bet most people wouldn't even notice the cheek rest. This is all I'm saying:

http://i39.tinypic.com/3313ec0.jpg

I modified that image in paint, took me 30 seconds max. Yeah... I do believe that's the slightest modification ever. I don't even see how an argument comes from it, but it makes a huge difference.

Re: Tacticool Weapon Replacements
674167ffd82af
But you don't really see that at all while actually wielding the weapon, which is what you'll be doing the vast majority of the time, as opposed to the 2-3 seconds before deciding if you'll pick it up.

If you ask me about any improvements, how about making a jointed sub-object out of the 'slide' that lets the bullet casings out, that way there's a firing animation to be had that actually helps the patented "Assault Rifle Experience".

Though even that's problematic since the slide should be on the side of the weapon you can't see, oddly enough the original AR has the slide where you can see it, but the bullets come out from where you can't see it, probably because it just has a slide on each side.
