Dude congratulations! Kids change your life and in every way that matters you will be this kid's dad.

And from experience watching my brothers? It's gonna be terrifying and you're going to worry you're messing up and you will have moments where you hate the thigns the kid does.... but it'll be worth it.

Thanks everyone!  Also, love that quote application you did there, vladdrak.

Progress still continuing as fast as I can for now...life is busy getting strollers and diapers and such, still waiting for baby, but getting what I can done on Citadel here and there.

Level 7 is now 100% complete, all mission elements and details added.   Phew!  That level is ridiculously yuge.

Committed current to Github, trying to keep the public repo more current to my internal build in case I drop off the radar...you know, because reasons   :oldman:  :awesome:  ;)

Don't really have much to show for now....here's an editor shot of the logic for making four different forcebridge panels activate/deactivate in sequence, based on Source engine's entity logic of target->targetname(s) and using logic gates/switches - quite flexible and powerful if not slightly cumbersome:

Will your impending lack of sleep make progress more, or less, likely on Citadel? You'll have more waking time, but tiredness does bring down the quality and speed of anything requiring thought and concentration.

1hr adding new elements to level 8.
3hrs fixing a bug.

Sigh...progress sometimes ain't what I'd expect it to be.  At least most bugs are like 30 secs to 3 min to fix.  Just wish it didn't take 2min to playtest in the editor.

All levels complete except Cyberspace.

Finished adding all items, elements, enemies, triggers, logic, mission elements, details, text, decals, posters, and linking everything together for all levels R through 9 except Cyberspace.



No, it's not finished.  Here's what's left:
    CRITICAL:
    • Finish animating and completing these enemies and their effects: Cortex Reaver, Edward Diego, Gorilla Tiger Mutant, Cyborg Enforcer, Virus Mutant
    • Thorough testing of each prefab in each category (e.g. Weapons, Grenades, Hardware, etc.)
    • Critical bugfixes such as fixing respawning at restoration bays
    • Full playtesting
    • Build it into a releasable package
    • Test the built package
    • Bugfixing those stupid bugs I missed
    • User playtesting (you guys!)
    • AI playtesting (SHODAN gets to play too)
    • Build
    • Package and release
    • Bug fixing those stupid bugs that you people missed

    NOT SO IMPORTANT:
    • Minor details for enemies and polish (e.g. blinking autobomb "eyes", cyborg warrior death lightning, etc.)
    • 3D models for the last 23 of the 240 level chunks
    • Some debris models (metal panels, sparking wires)
    • Some speared corpse variants
    • Touch up the models on a couple doors, notably the gold elevator door
    • Add a reload dip animation to the view model transform along with slight time delay

    ...and I guess
    • Cyberspace  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Many more bigfixes...too many to count or list.
Fixed a ton of crap that was just plain wrong or unnecessary in the code.
Addressed all TODO's in the code.
Finished ressurection and then saves.  wait a minute :thinking:

 Exciting!  Previous record was 5min.  Playtime before running into a noncritical bug was 15min!  Previous record was 1min42secs.

I just remembered, the first four novels in the Doctor Who Virgin New Adventures feature a female A.I. who becomes sentient and evil, and the Doctor eventually forces her to forget everything and hopefully lose her evil attributes, and she becomes a newborn human baby and is adopted by a young couple (in a sentient church, or at least a church which is home to a powerful but good non-human entity).

I can't remember if the baby is a boy or a girl, and that page doesn't say. The first book wasn't too good, the second was much better, and I can't remember how the other two are. Incidentally, most of the books in the Virgin New Adventure range were very good, having the highest average quality of any Doctor Who novel range that I know of (and I've read most of the DW novels). Fortunately, we'll always have the pre-2017 novels, other books and TV series, even though the BBC have destroyed the program over the last three years.

One week with baby and I've accomplished:
Zero Citadel progress  :omg:
Learned how to diaper, swaddle, feed, burp....the usual baby stuff.  :thumb:

But I spent about an hour playing some of the new xen levels on Black Mesa now that it's in full 1.00 release...because when you're awake at 3am sometimes you get the urge to slay aliens.  I know I could have totally fixed some bugs on Citadel in that time but my brain on low sleep only wants to shoot stuff...don't hate me  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
