The WormBlend implant makes you mostly invisible to annelid creatures. (As discussed on TTLG.)

It always bothered me that Wormblend was never included in the game.  Maybe it was because it would make things too easy around annelids.  It is powerful but I figure if carefully implemented, it can be a valuable resource that is earned through sacrifice, so that there's no free ride.  Whatever your opinion might be, at least now you have the choice to include this implant as part of your SS2 experience - the attached mod will spawn one Wormblend implant in the Many level when it loads for the first time.  If you discover any bugs, let me know.

//the implant doesn't do anything. moved to Engineering, we'll see whether this can be fixed.

this is really cool, but what other mods is it compatible with? the ss2mod manager lists it as incompatible after installing straylight's mods and others... it sounds like you took this into account, but i am also using SHTUP and rebirth... is this ok?

also, where does this item spawn if you activate this?

thanks man.

This mod is exactly as if you just installed straylight's mod.  In otherwords, if you have straylight's adaob installed and you put this on top of it (not the other way around) then nothing changes.  This is incompatible with the same stuff that ADAOB is incopatible with, basically anything that changes the map or the gamesys. SHTUP and rebirth are fine.

As for the location of the implant I'm surprised you don't want to seek it out....but it is located here:

Just bellow the entrance to the second radioactive underwater area containing the nerve cluster.  When you reach the fork in the road that leads to the 2 entrances to the chamber, take the right path and upon entering the chamber turn around and look just below the entrance.  It's sitting on the floor.

By chance has anyone picked up, researched, equipped and used this implant and completed many.mis without any problems?  I did a half assed job of testing it and I'd like to know if it really worked properly.

nice idea, as an OSA player though - takes away the point of aquiring the tier 4 invisibility power

You make a good point.  That's why I tried to make it a bitch to find.  This way, if you have invisibility already you may just use it rather than hunt around for this organ and waste time researching it (which you may not be able to do if you spent CMs solely on psi).  If you're a marine or a navy specialist however, you are not likely to have invisibility.  For a marine, his weapons skills will allow him to blast his way through the level but the hacker might need an extra "edge".  If he is so inclined then, he can benefit from this organ.

From what I understand, it doesn't make you completely invisible.  It only reduces their awareness of you.  In the game editor there are settings which control an enemy's alertness and awareness of the player.  Maybe the implant plays with those settings.  I am fairly confident that it does do something though, based on prior discussion surrounding this implant.  Try again and see if you can find out at what point they don't notice you with the implant.  Then remove the implant and see if they notice you under the same circumstances.

That's exactly right!  It works well for Navy and Marine because they usually don't get the psi power for invisibility.  A lot of psi players like to get invisibility for BOTM to make the brain room easier or to get there without dying.  If you spend your CMs on guns or hacking, there's no easy way to be stealthy in some places where enemies are literally blocking your way or in the brain room where they're all around you.  This implant makes it a "little" easier, which is probably fair :)

It incorporates straylight's fixes as well.
Which is v0.3.0, right?

Actually, the last time I edited this mod, I don't believe ADAOB was at its latest.  I'll have to double check the dates of the files but I don't believe it's the very latest.

I intend to update this but due to the development of SCP, I may hold off until it's done since SCP will likely affect the resources used by this mod.

yeah, you better do that - BotM is receiving a major overhaul (one of the main reasons why is SCP so delayed).

But does the implant effect work? They see me no problem, in the BOTM.

I thought it was distance based.  Try getting to the edge of their detection range and remove the implant
Re: SS2 RocketMan many.mis With WormBlend Implant

I've been trying both at the beginning of the BOTM (there's a corner with 2 long corridors, one patrolled by a spider and another by a rumbler) and in Cyberspace to get some distance. The few times they weren't seeing me, I was crouching in the dark. :P

So basically it doesn't work?  Great.  I'll have to look at the properties of the implant in ShockED to see if something is broken or missing or disabled.

the implant is wonky, that's probably why it did not make it to the final build of the game (though its research chemical did). sometimes it seems to work, other times not as much. and unless it's going to work just like psi invisibility (ignored until weapon is fired), there is almost no point to it anyway - it's not like you'll be sneaking around planting grenades in hybrids's pants, Fallout style.

Well, if it's malfunctioning that's one thing.  If its only vice is that it isn't psi invisibility I don't see that as a reason not to have it.  Proximity to enemies without detection is a gameplay variable just like sight cones or awareness are.  Being able to get close to enemies without them spotting you (so long as it works correctly) would be handy for wrench players, passivists or people who can't hit a target just as an example.  If you have the chemicals and you found the implant, why not use it if you don't have any other advantages working for you?

Imho it's all placebo. :P But if players are more likely to use stealth when they wear it, at least it works as advertised. I was hoping to use this implant, because I was asked for a stealth mutator. So far, my best bet to turn this into Thief has been:

- The player -> Ai Core -> Visibility modifier all 0.5 (harder to detect)
- The player -> Light based transparency -> true (become yourself a lightgem)
- Tear down diffused lightning to get yourself some good shadows to hide in
