you have the ability to repair turret ports, meaning when you fail a turret hack, you can repair the port and hack it again.

repairing destroyed turrets will probably be a standalone minimod someday.

I have SCP beta2 but right at the start I noticed the menu in the happy noodle is blurry and near unreadable. It just doesn't look like the high resolution version I'm seeing in the youtube video. (about 13sec into the video). Because I've only gone as far as a few minutes in a new game, I am unsure if I'm missing other high res textures as well. Am I missing something else?

SCP does not have any high-res textures, that's SHTUP (ND-SHTUP, first post in this thread). This is how it should look like:

"Reflections" (environment maps) are only supported under NewDark. ADaOB was last updated before NewDark even existed.

Ok it has nothing to do with adaob then, but i can't find the mod which have the reflections (it looked really great), if someone has a clue on what it is...

All these acronyms, SHTUP, SCP, ND, SSTOOL, GOG. I wish there was a simple post that said you NEED this, and you install stuff in THIS order. Not, how it is now, there's so many caveats and beta versions and links to mod managers and sstool, it's just horrible, 90 minutes i've been trying to work out how to install the Hi Rest Texture pack. But I need this and this and this, and if I need this then I must also get this, but only if I am running Good Old Games version ! Arrrgh ! It's maddening.

That's why there is a Newbie Modding Guide..

oh I do hope this is not Downwinder from TTLG.

also no idea from where did he pull all that stuff (I could assume, but lets not do that), but he is apparently not a master of the first google hit.

anyway, it's pretty much just patching up with SS2tool and then loading mods via the manager, see that link in Olfred's post.

Not enough typos to be downwinder.

I always stumble upon areas where the sound seems a bit odd ... like going only a step in one direction and suddenly theres a loud drone sound or something like that. Is that something which can be adressed and if so is a case for SCP?

Yes, that is (usually) fixable and we would like to know about such areas.

Here is a savegame. Just step forwards and backwards in this spot to hear how the sound suddenly is switched on which doesn't sound very natural.

Ah, that's a transition point between ambient sounds. Looks like they put an extra sound marker in there to smooth the transition going one way, but not the other. Should be possible to improve it a bit.

Nice, that must have been a ton of work. BTW, how hard would it be to extract SS1 polygon objects (healing suite, cameras, ...), convert them to Dark, and put them in the level?

Energy sources too. That's the thing I find most notably missing.

You mean the charging station model?
Re: SS2 Community Patch (SCP) Beta 2
674002be8d85b
Yeah. Although I notice now that the SS2 model is used at the start in the medic area. Shouldn't there be another in that cove at 1:30?
Maybe my memory is just playing tricks on me.

Re: SS2 Community Patch (SCP) Beta 2

There's a charging station in that niche in SS1, but SS2's recharge station model is too tall to fit there.

BTW, how hard would it be to extract SS1 polygon objects (healing suite, cameras, ...), convert them to Dark, and put them in the level?
Apparently nobody knows. Maybe if/when the SS1 source is released by Night Dive someone can use it to make a model exporter.

However, CCP had a few recreated SS1 models (anyone know who did them?). As seen in the video I've already used their chair and crate models. I suppose I could stick their charging station model in there too.
Re: SS2 Community Patch (SCP) Beta 2

Is there access to the textures or are you redoing them anyways?
If yes, I could also help out to recreate any missing models you might have.
Re: SS2 Community Patch (SCP) Beta 2

Maybe Josiah and hank didn't notice the thread, those are the first people I'd asked. Although Josiah is remaking all models from scratch, so I don't know if he ever attempted conversion.

The SCP_beta2 has some issues...
The desks are showed like a white box in menu when you right click.
Also in the beginning in Med Sci after you open the first door with a card, then after you see a Many killing a woman.
In this area the tube of gas should be covered, but it shows like a transparent white box too.

Comparision

The original (with red alarm) looks better than the SCP_beta2 scene.
Moreover, the modded scene has no alarm blinking.

Howover I prefer to delete "Sshock2\DMM\SCP_beta2\medsci1.mis" - the file responsible - and play.

Re: SS2 Community Patch (SCP) Beta 2

that is obviously not how things are supposed to look - you are either loading an old save, or running a broken SS2 install (maybe both).

first, try to start a completely new game (main menu/new game/start game), if that won't help, grab a clean, unmodified set of resources (either GOG, steam or cd), patch it up with SS2tool and load all desired mods, and then start a new game, that should be a bulletproof way of fixing all strange issues.

Howover I prefer to delete "Sshock2\DMM\SCP_beta2\medsci1.mis" - the file responsible - and play.
never, ever mess with mods manually - it's a sureproof way of making things worse. what you should do instead, is read the instructions in the first post.

On the bright side, he made me look at that area and realize that when that tube was shrunk down and moved, the brush light inside it was left behind! Will fix in beta 3.

For reference, that area in a non-fucked SCP install looks like this:
