This is actually rather impressive. No shitty "reimagining" that destroys the original art. Even Robb Waters is in on it, and his updated concept art is really kick-ass and true to the original designs.

That said, I'm hoping they'll make the levels curve to match the exterior of Citadel this time!

I'm just as excited for both theirs and mine.  It will be interesting to see how we handle the UI and controls differently.  And how people will dislike or prefer the bloom, shininess, and modernity of the ND remake vs the stylistic simplicity and subtle improvements in Citadel.

Wanted System Shock 3 to happen: It's Happening
Wanted Otherside Entertainment and no'one else to do it: It's Happening

So I'm happy.

The big question is: Will it be on kickstarter.

Actually shodan's influence was slowly found by gamers.
ss2 took 3 years before people started to go "damn that was actually damn good"
I bought the game on release and loved it, but other gamers, groups ect took ages to adopt the game.

In the end it may have happened late but SS2 has made a name for itself that cannot be rivaled.

The number of people willing to pay in advance for a SS sequel is much lower than the one of players who know or played it and the amount of cash you can raise would be lower than what Torment or Pillars of Eternity got. And System Shock needs more than that I think.

They might try to get some actual investors in the boat and let gamers do their part - Fig comes to mind here.

Why so cynical? Since it is essentially Looking glass do the dev work, this is our best chance to get to it done right.  Sorry, I am excited by this development.
