Is there any possible way to get my hands on the System shock soundtrack? Any FTP or something? Or even a ripper to get it out straight from the game.

The original System Shock soundtrack is here.
You can find some original and many remixes of the midis here.
There are more great remixes on Chicajo's site.

I attached a program to extract files from RES archives and a XMI-2-MIDI converter. Untested.
Here's another extractor program.

Thank you thats what I needed. Also I'll add that this soundtrack is just awesome in Cyberpunk and other Sci-fi RPGs which I played lately with friends ^^.

Here is fanmix for System Shock by some unknown artist (maybe it is Chicajo?).

Brain, this song kicks serious ***. :D

Idk who made it though.

Could be one of Chicajo's remixes. Nice one anyway.

I have it downloaded and would like to upload it but I cannot. I think Chicajo made it (the soundtrack in the link I provided.) but i'm not sure.

Is there any eternal program available to allow the use of MP3s in System Shock? I'd love to use Chicajo's work in-game. I haven't seen anything of the sort, so I'm guessing the answer is "No", but you guys would know better than I would.
674f3e801e62b
No. You'd need XMI files, a MIDI format. And integrate those into the game.
It would be a lot easier to play your MP3 tunes simultaneously in some audioplayer.

Thing is, this would make the game lose the dynamic soundtrack which changes and shifts depending on the situation. There also seems to be a random element to it which baffles me every time, for example sometimes when I start the game there will be an extra layer of those creepy machine noises and sometimes there won't. The interesting thing is that those parts aren't contained in the ripped midi files that are available, I wonder where they're stored.

You know, I'm not sure this Shock2k is Chicajo's remix. I've heard this remix long before Chicajo has started his shock-music shrine.

Apparently this mix was made by PLZI. Just noticed it when I was browsing through this thread https://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=2285.0

Btw, that shock2k remix by Plzi is awesome. One day... actually one night I've found out that he's the author of the mix, and there was a phone number. I messaged him instantly in 2 AM (his time)... Well, he sent me a lossless version of the song. Dunno whether I can share it, but you can ask him for it for the Shock Universe: https://www.facebook.com/plzi.itte

I love it when I randomly come across that remix in my playlist. It's very well done and conveys the whole substance of System Shock in less than four minutes.

These are the System Shock 1 midis rendered using the Timbres Of Heaven GM_GS_XG_SFX V 2.0.2 soundfont.

These sound very fancy and orchestral, with clear instruments.  The fancier instruments do make one or two of the tracks sound a little "wrong" / different to the originals at times, but generally they sound much better and more lively.

Note that the files in the attached archive are in OGG/Vorbis format.

These are the System Shock 1 midis rendered using the FluidR3_GM soundfont.

These sound fancy and orchestral, but not quite as much as the Timbres of Heaven version.  They are slightly closer to the original midi sounds.

Note that the files in the attached archive are in OGG/Vorbis format.

These are the System Shock 1 midis rendered using the GeneralUser GS Live-Audigy v1.44 soundfont.

These sound like the original midis played on a wavetable soundcard.  They are nowhere near as fancy as the other two versions, but are much closer to the original midi sound.

Note that the files in the attached archive are in OGG/Vorbis format.

I like the elevator musak from shkmidi-timbre. It sounds very elevatory, if that is a word. The other two version of it are a bit to noisy for me.
I just played System Shock once, sadly without music. Through the let's play of Enchantermon I've discovered the groves music as my possible favourite besides the outro music, and I like it in the three versions provided here, too. It creates a mood of eerie silence.
For the outro/end music none of the three versions seem to get it right for me. Somehow they lack this "Hell yeah! System Shock!!" factor.

Thanks Nameless Voice! Cool sounds, I might grab a couple to have 8 versions of the cyberspace music for my project. Chicajo's remixes have been a revelation, I learned how to make the songs work just to have his "medical" in the final level.
674f3e801f9ee
Have medical in the final level? What, you mean replacing the music from the final?

I uploaded PLZI's shock2k remix to YouTube, because it deserved it.

Alright...time to get my hands on the raw midis to make some ambient sound effects from a few background samples, notably level 3's.

Googling SS1 music....bam here.
Ok, original midis... original midis...ah ok link to TTLG Juke Box...wait no these are tweaked.
Ok link to other remixes...nope tweaked and remixes.
Ok hmmm....no raw midis to download.  I'll just use the extractor.

What?? TNX021 just extracts textures.  Brilliant!
Ok looking for different extractor...ss_extrac found....nope that gives me .wav files (unless I'm barking up the wrong BARK.RES lol)

Well ok maybe the xmi files are somewhere to download already....nope.

Anyone know how to extract the original, unmodified, unremixed, untouched pure xmi files??   Little help?
