True, the healing machine can't do healing comas.  Also, it is questionable if brain function is fully restored, especially if Hacker runs into a room carrying a live land mine on a suicide run .  Besides, maybe they had backup personell in case of power failures.

Sometimes it's easier to rebuild something than to repair it.
A surgeon could also be one to maintain the healing beds and other medical equipment.
Sure, an engineer could do that as well. But he might not see if something is really working as intended.

I assume a cyborg surgeon would cut and saw cyborgs together from voluntary humans and machinery. So he could have been a pathologist before, maybe with some robotics on the side.

This forum has a chat room. Never used it much though, and it seems pretty empty these days. You could try requesting Kolya to make a server on Discord though.

I have seen people write "And that's good idea because.....?" but usually in anticipation for the person to finish their sentence.  Not sure what he's/she's/it's trying to say, because A: the questions are complete, and B: he/she/it is only using one or two periods.

They change stuff that they got right the first time and refuse to change stuff that they blatantly screwed up.

Not every enemy needs a cluster of cafeteria heat lamps glued to his head either.

Yeah but the big red eye cluster and tubes coming out everywhere is very cliche.  I don't think all cyborgs need to look like a mess of hoses and optics.  There are plenty of enemies in SS1 already that lend themselves to artistic license if they want to do that.  Others are iconic and should retain most of their heritage, like the cortex reaver, mutant, hopper, assassin, etc.  The drone isn't so pivotal of an enemy in that sense but it's just that they teased us with a very loyal reproduction and then made a mess of him.

If I put my "not an SS1 fan" hat on for a moment, it's not a terrible model.  I can think of worse abortions than this.
