So, is anything actually happening with the game itself?

I was hoping (though not really expecting) that they'd address some of the bigger issues that were reported by the beta testers.

I haven't heard anything, though I'm not on their Discord, so maybe something has been happening there?

I was hoping that Atari would give Nightdive a kick (no pun intended) to actually put some effort into their KS updates. No luck there.

Atari is too busy with their hotel business.

I don't suppose the hint of remixed audio in that clip on the Kickstarter page means we're getting actually music in the final release?

That music is from the remake's intro

Oh, right.  So likely still no real in-game music then.

That only be in the mods that come out later I'm assuming.

Boulder Punch has a review of SSR:

Looks like they didn't fix any of my big complaints from the Backer Beta.  Didn't have much hope for them fixing the bad intro pacing, lack of music, and awful finale . . .   but I was at least hoping they'd fix Maintenance not being dark.

Alrighty, reviews for this have started popping up and they are... quite good. 73% Metacritic average at the moment.
anyway, "7/10, too bad they didn't listen to ZB's analysis posted on systemshock.org" is my prediction, feel free to quote me on that.

//GmanLives sounded pretty satisfied in his review though.

Yes, i think we're in a minority in that we actually care about those things I complained about repeatedly.

our standards are too damn high!

anyway, I'll be bold enough to say if the suggestions were heeded, this would be a 8 or maybe even a 9/10.

It's the Deus Ex: Invisible War phenomena all over again, where clueless reviewers give it a thumbs up because they have no idea how much it actually missed the mark.

GmanLives tends to be pretty spot on. hmm.. guess most people will either not notice, or care.

IW received decent reviews back in the day? my impression was it was disliked from day one.

Nope. Invisible War got positive reviews. Then actual players generally hated it, which resulted in a bit of a backlash against the reviewers.

You will be disappointed then.. The Nth Review even more, if you care. Or I at least feel like they both miss the mark

well, we'll see soon enough I suppose.

His review is out, is what I mean.

However I think the Boulder Punch review, which I am watching now, is pretty good/matches my feelings.

Hey, I gave it a thumbs-up too!  For the most part it's very good.
It just annoys me that it could have been an unambiguous, enthusiastic thumbs-up if they'd just changed a few things.

also, no SS2 style notes/quest log? with all the (sometimes somewhat unwanted) additions, one would expect at least a few that actually matter. scribbling on a piece of paper is not the kind of retro experience most people are interested in, I'd imagine.

I'm honestly in awe this game ever came out. If you told my 2016 year old self it would take half a decade to release this thing I'd tell you to go fuck yourself.

I'll reserve my verdict until I have actually played it but from what I have seen so far, I'm positively impressed. The color scheme is too much candy wonderland and could have done without the pixelated look but at least they managed to make it look like a coherent style overall.
