Fair enough, sorry to have dragged you into this, but you need to tell Join usss! to back off as well if he persists since your telling me; for fairness sake.  And in retrospect, I don't think his attacks had any meaning other than just that they were blatant attacks to be quite honest

Chuckles, I would advise you to ease down a bit. Don't let Join usss! push your buttons. If he has been behaving like this for years and has been banned from another community by its moderators, and that didn't prompt him to change for the better, then it can simply be acknowledged that he is an arse. Here you are on the same level of authority with him, and the moderators don't mind his behaviour, so you can only lose by letting him get to you and going head-to-head with him. Let us just ignore him instead.

Here you are sharing your little nuggets of wisdom in this thread, yet every time you open your mouth, you instigate more bickering and divisive behaviour because no matter what someone says or how long it goes on, you always have to take a little pot shot from the sidelines to get back to the top of the stack.  And you wonder why people are on your case all the time...  if you want to set an example, don't chime in just to call someone a whiny faggots and then spend the next page spewing your standard issue arrogant-logicalrebuttal-speak.

I am not one AT ALL for political correctness but calling anyone a "faggots" is never ok in my book. Whilst I am not on chuckles or Aurora's "side" in regards to more niceness forum wide as you can try all you like, but people are who they are whether you ask them to be different that's just not going to happen. The only person you can change is yourself. That is the only constant in life as a whole.

Forums are not, and will never be politically correct, nor should they ever be imo. Name calling however is never ok. Never. Unless it's in response to something massive (ie the person was a convicted rapist or criminal of some sort).

I've been making levels for games since Doom, and TBH I never really factor in the communities of said games when I've made them. I don't care. I just love the games themselves and wanting to make my own content for it. If it's bad then it's bad, if it's good then awesome. But in the end it's my own way of showing my love to the game + to the developers of them for making such great things.

No matter what anyone says to you from whatever community, it's not going to change how you feel for the game in question. You'll still love it to death, as that's why you felt the urge to make your own stuff for it. And props to you for doing that. If people don't like your stuff, that's their issue, not yours. Always remember that, for when if someone says for example "your levels crap" or "I'd not leave your day job with stuff like that", that's their issue. Who cares. Sure you read it, and it might sting your feelings, but brush yourself up and move on. Even if everyone told me that my stuff was bad, I'd keep on doing it because that's my passion (level and game design). If you love it, then take that attitude.

And that's my 5 cents.

Those were heated arguments over things I'm passionate about, that being game design. They weren't arguments about the people involved, chuckles here is the only exception that. You're right about one thing: my form and intentions hasn't been in this thread, but that is a rarity for me as my intentions in reality are rarely malicious. As a result I will drop it. I had to drop it and NOT have the last word every encounter with Chuckles anyway, so get it right and don't let your dislike of me cloud your judgement.

Also faggots, meaning gay, as in something nobody should really take offense to because nobody has no way of knowing your sexual orientation without you explicitly stating it. Far worse things have been said here: see the Bioshock thread or the System Shocked drama. It has no real meaning, it's just being highlighted because it was direct, or precisely because it was an "offensive" word without meaning and therefore not very constructive.

I wouldn't describe you as malicious.  I think it would be more accurate to say that you want to achieve status on this forum by using your "tough love" persona to give others the impression that your opinions are more valid than theirs.  You're not the only one guilty of doing that.  Heck, I've done it... never too proud about it either.  But you seem to be particularly flagrant about it and lack the sound judgment to sense when the tension in the air is too great.

...but since I'm now contributing to the very phenomenon I condemn, I'm going to shut up and hope that all the heat in the room subsides naturally, which of course requires everyone to exercise self-control.  It's not a forum rule or anything but I'm hopeful one day we can channel our outbursts more constructively.

I can live with that analysis, even if it may or may not be accurate. I don't think my opinion is any more valid, unless it is more informed. If you were to talk about astronomy as someone with a deeply seated interest, I'd view my own opinion less valuable than that of someone who is more informed, as my knowledge and experience is somewhat limited in that regard. Sometimes it is obvious through discussion that the opposition is less informed.

Precisely right.  I felt the same way doing a group project for "space systems design" in university.  Guess what happened?  Everybody hated me.  I wasn't mean to them.  I wasn't shooting my mouth off.  In fact I was deliberately delicate about everything I said.  BUT I had to say my piece each time somebody had a "bad" suggestion because I couldn't resist doing things better.  What did I learn from that?

People don't like being deflated all the time, even if you try to do it nicely.  There's no such thing as someone politely pointing out that you're incompetent.  Who's fault is it?  Arguably theirs for not being mature enough to handle repeatedly being told they're wrong.  I'm sure you would point out that it's unfair to stifle yourself to save face for somebody else, especially on the internet.  I agree.  However it is my opinion that a person ought to have a moral obligation to test the metal of each person they interact with and see what that person's temperament is like.  If you detect that a person is generally good intentioned but perhaps has weak constitution, don't harass them with facts and figures and embarrassing truths.  It just gets them in a shitty defensive state and how is that good for anyone?

Sure thing. Anyway, my contributions to this thread haven't been in best taste or intention as a rare exception, I'll readily admit to that, and for that reason I probably deserved a rattling.
My post on page 1 had good intentions anyway, the one where I addressed the deleted posts issue, I just later got triggered by Chuckles playing the victim and taking offense to nothing again, such as voodoo47's "pain" comment. Note that isn't a pot shot, just trying to defend my actions.
