Funny you post these tonight, as I've been making music for the first time in aggggeeeeeeesssss. DnB stuff as per usual.

My game needed 4-5 tracks. So I've finally got around to sitting down and doing them. I'm divided on the first one I've been making. Starts off with a System Shock-ish style then evolves into something different. Much work ahead.

Still nice to listen to and very impressive how modern it still sounds.

I currently enjoy listening to Aleksandir, a contemporary artist when I drive to work very early in the morning darkness. Nothing really special about it but I dig the cozy vibe that reminds me of my clubbing days around the turn of the millenium.

Sounds very house-y to me. I guess "tech house with a pinch of speed garage" would be the most fitting sub-genre label.

Liked about the first half of that, until the female voice starting taking center stage. Got annoying. I like these sorts of tunes, voice-less.

Funny, because I was about to write something about the combination of human elements with electronic music that always intrigued me, especially in many house tracks (songs, whatever) - like the Omar-S track you posted. I do like voice-less tracks too but it's a different appeal and after a while I start to crave something with an audible human touch again (could be voice, could be organic sounds, could be some kind of imperfections).  That's what I  had in mind when I selected the Herbert-track. The DJ Rolando was because I feel like it shares a kinship in terms of the overall style with the Omar-S track (Detroit house, in that case).

I should correct myself a bit, and say that I don't mind some speech in these sorts of tunes. Just not in a center stage style way. As in, I like it more subtle in the background type thing, since I like to use this music as background music whilst I'm doing something else (eg coding).

As for the tracks you linked:

Wasserman - W.I.R - Not bad. The voice stuff in that, is not as distracting as the other one.
Miss Kittin & Hacker - 1982 - Man that song lives up to it's name, with the subtle Space Invaders sound effects. I really like this one. Very 80s synth-y sounding + the music video. I'd not play that as background music, as it's very attention grabbing. I still quite like it though as a song.
Carl Lekebusch - Reverted - Good song. I'd have that in my playlist. This is the sort of stuff I like to have playing.

And yeah the one I linked did have some words in it. Majority of it did not though.

Yeah that's my jam, so to speak.

I love any good background style stuff. The crowd behind the DJ in that first video is amusing. Trying to dance to something that's not really heavy in beat. I guess it's fine to sway back and forth to. I think I'll leave that running for the next few hours. Sounds good.

I have and I will but DnB as a genre is a bit difficult for me. There are plenty of great tracks and I can thoroughly enjoy them in the right mood but overall, it was never my scene and it evokes a very different set of emotions and memories then other kinds of electronic music. Often it feels quite somber, melancholic or even both to me. I'll attribute that to an over-exposure of Metalheadz releases during some personal rough times and the local party scene that took over the Jungle and Dub/Ragga spots.

Fair enough. I grew up with friends with musical tastes all across the board, and I used to listen to DnB + jungle (though I had no idea what genre it was at the time) etc on the radio growing up when I couldn't sleep at night as a kid around the age of 13. And then video games incorporated much of similar sounding music into the mix.

Then when I was older I really loved trance clubs, even though I'm not a drug user. I only say that as I used to get the response "so what drugs do you take?" when I said that I loved trance clubs, and I'd be like "Er bourbon and coke + cigurettes?". Lol. Anyway. Anything that has a good background beat I just love.
