It seems to be the early electronic music that developed from disco.
Another strand came from HipHop culture. (Note the headshot smiley at the 1:00 mark.)

That being said, the first track is awesome, because of this wheeoooohooohoho sound.
The second one has a great video, but the music is unremarkable. If you took away the dedededededede it's just a bunch of random harmonies.

I should become a music journalist.

I pity everyone who's not liking good music. ;) Let me try to heal your wounded soul with other (albeit more conventional) Max Cooper tracks.

That style was known as (Latin- / Miami-) "Freestyle" in the 80ies/90ies. It's the music that's usually associated with breakdance.

And it's also the music that I broke the quote-function to.

AD 93 (ex-whities) is one of my most consistently enjoyed labels recently.
And since I'm already here, I wouldn't miss a chance to add a couple classics of mine:

UR - Jupiter Jazz (1992) | Another classic UR from the same era, this one put me in space the first time I heard it (drugs helped a bit)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQv3dCkY2Tk
Mixx; Blood; Camero; Sweet Nectar - Saber (1991)

ChloƩ - Take Care (2004)

Micropoint - Neurojuice (1998) | Hardcore is not my daily cup of tea but sometimes I have a craving. As a Frenchman I must say that we had a lot of great acts.

Mr. Oizo - M-Seq (1998)

Rainforest is a really nice track! Not really house, more like electro with housey melodic elements.

I really like her selection in those "TechnoGoth"-sets. Good, playful mix between Techno, IDM and Trance. Reminds me of the times around the turn of the millenium. (She's not talking all the time...)

At 5 hours long, this will make for some good background music today. Thanks :).

And she's nice on the eyes too. So added bonus.

[edit a few hours in]
Definitely end of the millennium style sound to it. Used to go clubbing round then. Good sound.

Join2Good one! Loving the "Living For The Future"-remix

There's some sense of euphoria and pioneering to these tracks that I enjoy. I feel like DnB gradually shifted more towards heavier stuff later on, either by going darker / more somber atmospherically or by becoming overly sophisticated / intellectual / technical. Not that I don't enjoy aggressively dark tracks but the genre somewhat overdosed on seriousness of the sad and somber variety, in my very subjective experience.

Wait that's weird.

I could have sworn I linked to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SuIUlc_BBA
But apparently I linked to the album that happens to contain the same track, coincidentally with a timestamp at the halfway point of this particular track?
what kind of black magic bullshit is this? I see no timestamp in my link.

eh whatever, it's a half-decent album anyway.
