Sometimes my kids watch me play games and I was wondering if this is possible.

There is no option to turn off blood. It would be theoretically possible to make the blood textures transparent, but you'd have to do this yourself probably. There's no mod for this and I have some doubts anyone wants to make one.

That being said,  if your kids watch you playing System Shock 2 the small blood samples should be the least of your concern. No part of this game is intended or suitable for children. It would be best if you just prevented them from watching you play SS2.

Anyone who makes such a mod should also turn the wrench into a candy cane.

That would go along well with a bleeding flowers mod, Serious Sam style.  :D

Yeah, you're right. This is one they probably would be better off without. Thanks.

This is tragicomical. Seriously.

And one tip. Kids start to hate their parents the moment they find out how they were lied to.

Why do you think he lies to his kids?

I didn't say that but trying to hide some blood after hurting something living just doesn't make sense to me. The blood is there, it exists and it's meant to behave like that. The blood is natural. Violence is not. Trying to hide blood after still expressing violence is just stupid and A LIE.

EDIT: BTW, that just reminds me that kids learn to lie in some manner of somebody else

The hybrids don't live. Yet they walk around and attack you with shotguns & grenades on a spaceship that can fly faster than light while being held hostage by a malevolent artificial intelligence.

I generally agree with you, I know what you are getting at, but let's not forget that this is a computer game. Whether the enemies bleed or not, it's not a lie. It's just another representation of a highly fictionalized environment to begin with.

Of course it does add to immersiveness if things are kept as real as possible within this fiction. And we all prefer this to be a dark and moody piece.

Ever seen "A history of violence" Miracle? A great movie that deals just with these issues and the director Cronenberg deliberately shows the consequences of violence in it, making quite a difference to how violence is usually depicted in movies.

Thanks for the morality lesson. You probably don't even have kids. My kids like to be by their Dad, and I, unfortunately, am usually working. When I get a minute outside of work and parenting, I enjoy a good game, just like you. I guess I should become a minister or just play Dora and Scooby Doo games. What was I thinking?

Don't take it personal dogeddie. I guess you know that Miracle aimed at a certain trend of "disneyfication" of violence.

Of course it was not meant personally, dogeddie but I got annoyed by the trend to put bad things under the shroud of false so we could put on happy faces like everything's all right now.

Thanks for the tip, Kolya, haven't seen that one.
To explain my point of view I'd recommed this short movie A Child that smelt funny by David Firth. His short movies are extremely sarcastical and exceed all boundaries of morality so know that his other work may offend you... but this one I've mentioned is bearable for anyone I think.

Thanks for that link... those short movies are great indeed.
On the topic: I think making the blood invisible is a bad idea and I also think that SS2 is not at all suitable for children but it wouldn't be that much of a drama when you help them to develop proper media competence.
