System Shock 2 Community Patch (SCP) — Beta 3

"Please Oh Please Let This Be The Last Beta" Release

About
SCP is an unofficial patch for System Shock 2 that delivers an authentic and highly polished gameplay experience, hopefully approximating the form SS2 would have taken if Irrational had had a few more months to work on it before release. It is not a total conversion, a source port, a reimagining, or a remake. It is not SS2 for experts, nor is it SS2 for newbies. It’s just SS2, but better.

SCP requires System Shock 2 patched to version 2.44 or higher (SS2Tool) and you need to start a new game.

Please use this thread for bug reports.

SHTUP-ND is highly recommended for use with SCP. The newest beta isn't quite ready yet, but you can grab the current version from the SCP beta 2 thread.

Download Here (please try these links first):

No not these links dummy, the ones up there ^^^. These are just mirrors in case the primary links go dead.

Alright then, I'll give it a shot. Still wish there was more gameplay focus but there's clearly a lot of work gone into this so I look forward to the results.

Yes.

Heheh.

If by that you mean focus on changing the gameplay, that's the exact opposite of what SCP is about.

1) Set up a Google doc for bug-reporting.
2) Ignore everything System Shocked says on this forum and never answer his posts.
3) ???

Working on SCP might net you a spot on a reality TV show about the biggest masochists on the planet but you won't set a foot in the oval office. I'm sorry.

Many thanks for another Beta of the awesome SCP. I might just try out multiplayer this time!

This is awesome; thank  you one and all for your continued effort to improve SS2.

Should I dive in now to start a SCP Beta3 playthrough, or do you know if the SHTUP-ND is around the corner in the next few weeks/month or two? If so, I might as well wait for the latest SHTUP-ND Beta(3?).

SHTUP-ND Beta(3?)
beta2 is what comes after beta1, I'd say. you can enable/disable/update any version of SHTUP mid game, so no need to worry, just do whatever you like.

My bad, I was referring to the file being called SCP_beta2 in the mod thread, but in hindsight I realize that was referring to the SCP version, and not the SHTUP-ND version. Thanks for letting me know that I can update mid playthrough without savefile corruption- looks like I'm good to go!

yes, but never merge any two versions - in this case, updating means getting rid of the older version and loading and activating the newer one.

Theoretically speaking, what is left to do at this point? Is it mostly polish now?

Technically it's always been polish. Lots and lots of polish.

Item 2)  -  This is too harsh, really.

An ignorant summation on my part concerning my personal involvement concerning SS2 and the SCP Mod.

Assuming that you've installed SCP Beta 3, you're now playing a far superior visually consistent/corrected version of SS2, partly as a result of the time/efforts that I've contributed towards improving SS2 over the past four years. Yet, I'm about to report on the SCP Beta 3 Google.doc an obvious and simple issue that's been previously reported two times, which still hasn't been fixed, which means it won't be fixed until SCP Beta 4 - Halloween 2017, unless a much more preferred mid-year 2017 SCP Beta 3 patch is released, including many new other fixes. - Please ! ! ! - PLEASE release a SCP Beta 3 mid-year PATCH ! ! !

This is the upteenth ongoing reason for frustration as to why I've had an extended pissed-off attitude/position within these forums. Way back at the start of my involvement with SS2, I didn't want to be a negative influence towards it. However, as a result of my newly discovered earlier previous experiences with submitting issues concerning other major PC games, I discovered that I could for SS2, and eventually did so.

Historically and unfortunately, many issues have been reported but not fixed, and continue to be issues within their areas/levels - I'll tell you, again.

Don't get me wrong, MANY reported issues have finally been addressed/incorporated into SCP Beta 3. Sadly, there are some legit issues that were previously reported that still haven't been fixed. This is where my attitude/frustration stems from - bringing legit issues to light and having them not fixed and ignored.

My struggles to improve SS2 will continue and I'm sure that I'll receive many more put-downs and the brunt for it, all worthwhile if SS2 is improved to its fullest in he end.

it's world domination, actually.

Really not intended on my part in any way. Nevertheless, thanks for your ongoing support, even when nobody else acknowledges/appreciates my true motives. As you SCP Devs are, I'm only in this project to improve SS2, come hell or high-water  -  fair/unfair and/or praise/criticism.

I'm all for bringing it on and reporting what still needs to be fixed within SCP Beta 3 and Beta 4 ! ! !  And what likely appears to be it's ongoing long-term updated releases, as the SCP develops further.

Can't remember if I have already reported that, because I remember doing this shit before:
The platform of the protocol droid in chesapeake bay right before the corridors to the first career selection (I went Navy as usual) can be entered by jumping on that console right from the droid and then jumping in. Impossible to leave once inside. Could be annoying to some people, but the maximum time lost is around 5 minutes, so it should be okay if not fixed.
Let's see if I find some things elsewhere in the game. Ima SystemShocked'ing the shit out of this game now :D

I also just only found that easter egg earlier on earth by jumping to strange places.... Awesome!!!
