Excellent choice. Wondered when they'd finally run out of money.

Based on Starbreeze's other works, it sounds like they'll be pushing real hard for the VR in SS3.  But hey, at least there's no cancerous, pandering Kickstarter for this one.

Consoles are guaranteed now but I didn't really expect them to stay PC-exclusive in the first place.

I don't know anything about this company but I'm not getting the sensation that good will come of this.  Sounds like this publisher is pretty iron-fisted?

Well, Spector is also somewhat stubborn, at least it seems, so hopefully that will counter any ironfisted-ness.

Expect the worst, hope for the best.

From what Spector said during his DeusEx postmortem at GDC, VR for SS3 doesn't seem to be planned right now, btw.

50:50 split after break-even plus ownership of all intellectual rights in a world where developers are payed on a per-project basis and aren't even allowed to own their own source code and you call that iron-fisted? Why?

They'll invest 12M... doesn't sound like much for a current-gen multi-platform game at all.

Good. Less financial risk, less chance to be dumbed down. Still a substantially higher budget than Shock 2 and Deus Ex. And they weren't THAT big budget either: couple million while some other games in that time were upwards of 15 mil.

I wasn't thinking of the economics, just the comments about "definitely going to have console support" and "definitely going to have VR".  I don't care about either of those things in and of themselves, being included but it sounds like they have a pretty strong authority when they want something.  For a publisher, that concerns me because they aren't the ones who should be driving the bus on development of the game.  Anyway it was just a feeling based on 2 posts worth of info.  I really know nothing about them.  I just hope the core development team remains in control of the plot and game mechanics.

Then again, demanding console support and VR is the type of stuff that has nothing to do with the game's contents so I suppose I can't read into it.

Hope this is true......  https://www.othersideentertainment.com/forum/index.php?topic=1365.msg21704#msg21704   As someone said above, at least this means no KS bs.
