I went through a bunch of the ADaOB changelog and the SCP readme, and I must say that I like a lot of the adjustments you guys have made. The grenade launcher fix seems simple but it is a great idea, and probably one most of us never thought about. I like that you changed the Laser Pistol and Assault Rifle some more in a less extreme way than the way ADaOB had it. I like the proposed idea for making Korenchkin a Greater Psi Reaver...I really wish you guys had gone and implemented it. Now I'll feel bad about not having to fight him like that with some of my character builds :P . Basically, without writing them all here, as far as I can tell I like all the changes made thus far. You guys deserve your favorite food and drink for as long as it took to do all of this. 8)

P.S. Now that I think about it though, if you get a Greater Psi Reaver organ from Korench and research it, that would make the one in the BotM easier to kill. You probably should make Korench a Greater Psi Reaver and just remove the organ altogether. Then again, as great as the gameplay aspect of this all sounds, storywise I'm not sure the Mind of the Many would specially make Korench one. I think the Greater Psi Reaver was like a warden or royal protector so to speak. Still, you could always tweak how the battle with Korench could go with certain abilities given to him or maybe make it harder or puzzle-like to find his brain.

How delicious...Have been looking forward to this for quite some time.

I think it was just those two. :P

a lot of people contributed in one way or another.
And what about those models which differ from the fix pack and scp?
should be ok as long as SHTUP has greater priority as the model pack. if you set everything up as on the picture, the chances for a screwup are small.

I just want to say thanks and keep up the good work!
This was the kind of excuse I needed to play the game again.

Tron 2.0 and System Shock 2 (SEQUELS EVERYWHERE) are two of my favorite games.
What makes it even better is that the fanbase for both games still works for each game, making it even better.

SHTUP-ND_beta0.  SCP_beta1. bug textures:
You didn't make a clean install. That should only happen if you have obj/simqua.bin, and other old SHTUP models.

Jesus, that map fixes list ...  :stroke:

Edit: "There needs to be some way for players to replenish their ammo before the final boss fight."
But there is.

Thanks people!
I was having doubts about playing this game. Thanks to Steam (and his great sales), and thanks to you guys, i can now play it with less bugs (hopefully) and better graphics.

I really like the new broken door in medsci 1. Finally the destroyed walkway makes sense!
Then I realised that it's on the hull side of the ship and would open straight into space. :cthulhu:

Would it be wise to wait for another release of SCP? Do you have an idea of a release schedule? I just want to avoid a situation like the VTM:B patches where I have to keep replaying Santa Monica because there is a new patch every month :P

beta2 will take quite a while (couple of months at least, probably more), but chances of a beta1 hotfix coming soon are pretty high - some bugs that should definitely be fixed asap were already reported.

we don't know that for sure. also, as mentioned many times before, overthinking things like that will only make you realize that the level design is completely nonsensical, and to correct that, they would have to be redesigned from scratch - making a model of the whole ship based on the few pictures that are available, placing in all the tech subsystems and wrap the levels around that.

I'll wait for the fix then! By the way, since I didn't mention it in the first post, this is a fucking incredible amount of work you all have pulled off. Me and many others are SO excited to dive back into SS2 with a fresh coat of paint :D

don't. play it, and if you find something weird, report it. do your part. an average gamer should complete the game in a couple of days, so there is no problem - once it's hotfixed, you can give it a second go.

ALERT ALERT ALERT A lot of you might be playing the game with the SCP patch not actually working. I used New Dark v2.43 as instructed and the SCP was NOT functioning but when I deleted "cam_ext.cfg", "cam_mod.ini"
and "lg.ini" in the main Shock directory and replaced them with backups I made of New Dark v2.42's same files the SCP worked, although I had to start my game over :/ .

I know it seems to be working now because there are flyers up on the walls that were not there before I believe, as well as a few other things like the doors in training choices opening rather than already staying open to begin with. The thing that cinched that the SCP was NOT working in the previous game was when I tried the cigs and they restored NO psi as was changed to restore a bit in the SCP.

Just thought I'd let you guys know. :P

Sounds like a problem with your installation. I didn't have to do that.

Did you make a clean install with SS2Tool?

Yeah it is working as far as I can tell because with New Dark v2.42 that door Kolya showed in his picture near the top of page 3 of this thread is there now.
Re: Re: SS2 Community Patch (SCP) Beta 1
673f7585ecfe6
It really sounds like a local problem, I didn't have to do anything special either. One thing I could imagine going wrong is: If you had NewDark 2.42 before and then ran the Update function of SS2Tool beta 6 (instead of Clean Install), it will ignore all config files. So NewDark 2.43 configs would not get updated.

So, it's clearly stated that SCP requires 2.43, and he chooses to run it under 2.42.

Move along, folks.

Wow...um...it won't work under 2.43...it is working under 2.42. What else am I suppose to do? Use a snake charming flute and song to MAKE it work? I clearly told you I switched over to 2.42 AFTER it wouldn't work in 2.43. If all you are going to do is make snide comments for no reason at all...what else can I do but work it out on my own, since you have no interest in helping.

I'm going to try a complete fresh install again and see if it helps with ND 2.43. If it doesn't I don't know what else to do. Maybe when voodoo comes on he can help, as you seem to just like randomly E-punching people.
