I don't lean in a particular way, but if added, the ones near the exploding shuttle should blow up as well once the resonator does its work.
Exciting!

And yet, every other shuttle bay in the game has those barrels in them.
Figures.

it's called game realism. that's why there are explosives lined up wherever bad guys patrol in most FPS games.

If you assume they contain fuel, their presence makes sense. Then what doesn't make sense (or rather, makes even less sense) is why there's a few of them stashed in Med/Sci.

Anyway, been looking at the latest shots of the System Shock remake, and I'm really liking what they're doing with the overgrown vegetation. I wish we had a vegetation modeler on hand for SCP, because giving hydroponics deck an overgrown look would be pretty great. For a deck named "hydroponics," it barely has any plants at all.

Without knowing exactly whats in those containers, there is no way to say if they make sense being in Med/Sci or not. But whatever kind of liquid (assuming it is liquid, it could be in some other state) in them could be serving more than one purpose. Technology in System Shock 2 is fairly advanced, so they might have invented a new kind of fuel that could be used used for all sort of purposes for all we know.

Even some of the types fuel we have now has other uses, RP-1 (kerosene) fuel for example (which is chemically speaking roughly halfway between gasoline and diesel) is used by SpaceX to run the hydraulics. So they could be using the same stuff both to fuel their vehicles and oil their machinery. (medical equipment in this case)

Another example would be gasoline which is used as a fairly cheap solvent in legal non food/drug production even today. (And it is being used for drug production albeit illegally) So assuming it is safer to use, their advanced fuel might be used for medical purposes as well.

Lastly some types of fuel is known to be used as the working fluid in refrigeration. There is no way to know for sure (now to mention how), but maybe those cryo-stasis pods use it somehow.

By the way, adding more props to the game where it makes sense is a brilliant idea.

Y'know how the Command deck tram flings you forward when it stops?
This is a huge hack and may not survive testing, but it seems to work well so far.
I always thought it was very humorous and I would be kind of sad of it being gone.
But yeah, it's a bug.
My favorite SS2 memory centers on that tram.

I am a packrat, and the first time I played SS2, I had no idea what I would need or when or whether I’d even be able to go back to get it. So when I reached that tram, and began to get the idea (far too early, of course, but the direction of the narrative made me suspect it) that I might not have easy access to the earlier areas of the ship, I collected every item in the game—every duplicate weapon and psi amp, every chemical canister (despite the warning you get on entering the first chemical storeroom), everything—and put them all in the tram.

Of course I could have put all the items in either end of the tram, but I wanted to see out the front, so I put them in the back of the tram.

Then I rode the tram.

You can imagine my astonishment when, with a rumble of flying debris, the accumulated detritus of the entire game up to that point killed me fucking dead.

I feel like that deserves a reward of some sort - Kolya, can we award a custom user title here? "Dead by Tram Junk" or something.

I want to see an FPS video of that happening.

That's awesome.
It was, I was forced to admit, an impractical and unnecessary death—to quote Dr. Polito’s warning of hours before.

It also made me fall head over heels in love with LGS.

I want to see an FPS video of that happening.
Because I was looking forward, I never saw it coming. Suddenly I was faceplanted into the glass, gave the huungh! of death, and saw at my periphery scores of chemical canisters fighting for space with trash-tier pistols.

I wish I still had that save—I set aside a slot permanently for it—but it was lost long ago with a defunct hard disk.

Thank you for that, it was a tense day and you made me laugh. Goes to show the physics in SS2 is goooood. Good enough to kill ya.

What I wouldn't give to see that. Someone really should replicate that. It would be hilarious to watch.

That's a good explanation. I suppose it makes a lot of sense if you think about it.

Those barrels should be added to that shuttle bay from the picture anyway since as far as I remember every other shuttle bay has them. So ZylonBane, those pictures are not up anymore but they were a few day ago and I remember them well. Great work, please don't change a thing.

A frames per second video?

I was going for "first person perspective", facing the debris pile as it came at him but I fucked up the acronym.

6742ad504262bZylonBane

6742ad5042676
But the entire game is in the first-person perspective. There is no other perspective.

Hmmm.... or is there....

6742ad5042897lastonearound

6742ad50428e0
Third person perspective is basically the first person perspective of a person who is walking behind the main character...

Think about that..
6742ad5042c3d
My favorite SS2 memory centers on that tram...

I have to agree with everyone else, that is really funny, and also shows how much love and detail LGS put into the game, albeit a presumably unintended side-effect of the comparatively real-physics game-engine mechanics.

This isn't a request or suggestion or anything, but would it be possible to add mouth movement to NPC's who speak up close to the player?

NPC's rarely speak near the player (well, they rarely speak in person at all) so there would be only a few NPC's who would need this treatment. Not to mention whenever an NPC speaks near in front of the player, they usually have unique animations to that scene (A guy talking and shooting himself in the head. Another guy talking, raising an arm and dying etc) So maybe those few animations could be edited a little to include mouth movement.

Again, not a suggestion, I am just thinking out loud.

it is somewhat possible by alternating the face textures (SOF did it this way). would be a pita to set up, and it's not compatible with any AI mesh mods.

6742ad5042f19lastonearound

6742ad5042f64
Well, I was talking about something more animation based (that way you would only be altering a few animations), but either way it would be pina I suppose.
