Creating something takes up more cycles then simply moving it. If it would be created on screen you could potentially see some ugly stuff. But I believe there are engines who have some kind of imaginary/virtual place for initialisation and don't need it. It's just, you choose one of the techniques available.

It's called a "blue room" in DromEd parlance. No, I don't know why.
Isn't there a room which is actually blue? Maybe that was the first one and the name just stuck.

These were the oldest TTLG threads I could find on blue rooms.

Apparently even back then nobody knew where the term came from. I couldn't find it mentioned in the Looking Glass DromEd docs either.

I always thought it had to do with Jorge being the color of the typical blue room, however this may be yet another apocryphal rumor..

Perhaps someone was thinking of a Green Room when using the term for Dromed originally and used the wrong colour to describe it?

Yeah, this is spam. Thanks god that he is not posting his terrible web-site which was made through UCOZ.

I think I may know what's up - he is possibly trying to recreate bits of the alpha/beta levels using the available videos and screenshots of the alpha/beta as reference.

Well if we got new weapons or enemies then I'd be all for that.

no chance. he can fool around with a few of the old resources that can be found in the release version of the game, but he's not bringing the alpha/beta back with just his imagination (and photoshop filters that give the hud an orange tint) alone.

it's just System being System, posting stuff that makes no sense and leaves everyone scratching their heads. water is wet and sky is blue, I don't really care and you shouldn't too.
